Find the Right (and Socially Conscious) Gift at Uncommon Good
In my personal life, I operate under conscious consumerism. I avoid beauty products tested on animals. I don’t do fur because I find it inhumane, though I don’t fault those who do. I avoid companies who have a history underpaying their employees. Instead, I choose companies who treat their employees well and are kind to animals as well as the environment. That said find the right gift for my favorites is hard. So, I am sometimes forced out of my comfort zone to get the right “gift.” With Uncommon Goods, a private company offering gifts created without harming animals or people, I can feel great about getting the right gift that is not only unique but also socially conscious.
The Brooklyn (operating out of the Brooklyn Army Terminal) based company offers a platform to creatives who otherwise might not get their products out in such a large group. What’s more about half of what the company sell is made by hand. These products are mostly created in USA, with one-third of the entire collection incorporating recycled and/or upcycled materials. Uncommon Goods also pays their employees well. In fact, the lowest paid seasonal worker earns 50% above the minimum wage. So, if you’re looking for awesome gift ideas for the man in your life or your bestie, that are socially conscious take a peek at Uncommon Goods. To get you started, here are some of my favorite:
For the wine lover. A decorative decanter.
For the whiskey lover or for the person who needs everything monogrammed. Try the Personalized Whiskey Barrel
For the foodie in your life. I love this Molecular Gastronomy Kit
This is just a sampling of the gifts available on the site. I suggest you browse and will find perfect presents for the love ones in your life and loads more for yourself. You know what they say #treatyoself.
