Did You Know One of the Wings from Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Was 3D Printed?
Today is the day, where women whom we suspect have iron clad deals with magical creatures to maintain their good looks and great bodies, strut the runway in blinged out skivvies on national television.
The happening, of course, is the Victoria’s Secret annual fashion. The designs and costume innovation are the stuff of science. No seriously. This year–for the first time–Victoria’s Secret in partnership with Swarovski created a costume worn by Lindsay Ellingson using a 3D printer. Using a full body scan to get Ellingson’s precise measurements (and to prevent sizing errors), the design teamed created a costume that fitted Ellingson’s small frame perfectly.
And, the resulting design which underwent several version is pretty magical. We got a detail look at the costume at a recent preview. The wing set resembles a white winter land and is bathed with Swarovski’s smallest crystals. It is sturdy, delicate, mesmerizing and oh so classy. Sadly, the Ellingson’s piece is one of kind but Swarovski and Victoria’s Secret are planning to release affordable version of the look.
Watch the Victoria’s Secret Fashion tonight on CBS for your first look at Lindsay Ellingson in her 3D costume.
