Janelle Monae Rocks the MNG by Mango for JCPenney Launch Party
JCPenney held a rocking party at Capitale with a special performance from singer Janelle Monae to celebrate the company’s new collaboration with Spanish retailer Mango. Attended by the likes of pop singer Kat DeLuna, reality TV phenom Ali Fedotowsky, TV personality Katie Lee Joe, actress Anne Heche, James Tupper of Grey’s Anatomy, Kelly Rutherford of Gossip Girl, and Real Housewife of New York Alex McCord and her husband Simon Van Kempen, the fun soiree showcased the new MNG by Mango for JCPenny collection – complete with a runway show.
“Having MNG by Mango exclusively will further establish JCPenney as a first choice destination for the best, affordable contemporary fast fashion in the U.S,” said Myron E. (Mike) Ullman, III, chairman and chief executive officer of JCPenney in a release. “Fast fashion for the young, modern woman is our highest-potential business opportunity.” The MNG by Mango concept will include a full array of pieces from fashionable handbags and accessories to contemporary clothing for the stylish gal on a budget but with the Mango twist.
No wonder Mango’s CEO Enric Casi, gushed about the decision, saying in a release “JCPenney is the perfect match for us to take advantage of the opportunity we see for the MNG by Mango brand in this market.”
This Fall a small number of stores will house the collection but by Fall 2011 about 600 stores are expected to carry the collection. The biggest of its kind.
