Party Pictures: Tony Bennett Celebrates the 56th Annual Art Awards Gala
Last week, bold faced names--Tony Bennett, Esperanza Spalding, Doug Aitken, along with The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation, Roselyne Chroman Swig and Susan and David Goode, attended the 56th Annual Art Awards. The gala which was held at Cipriani 42nd street, recognize artists and arts leaders who exhibit exemplary national leadership and whose work demonstrates extraordinary achievement. They are individuals who share a common belief in the power of the arts and arts education to enrich individual lives and communities alike.
This year the event drew an impressive guest list of 400 including notable names from the public and private sectors, along with guests from creative fields and philanthropy. And as in the past it was held to laud the achievements of individuals and organizations who have exhibited exemplary leadership in the arts. It also served as a fundraiser for American for the Arts foundation and its core programs and activities. The programs from the foundation serve the needs of more than 150,000 members and stakeholders across the country each year.
The ceremony has garnered the support of individuals, foundations and corporations across the country. Americans for the Arts extends special gratitude to: Sarah Arison, Carolyn Clark Powers, Joan and Irwin Jacobs, The Herb Alpert Foundation, American Express, Gagosian Gallery, The Rosenthal Family Foundation, Rick Rosenthal and Nancy Stephens and Agnes Gund. Additionally, Delta Air Lines, served as the official airline of the National Arts Awards.
