Hot! Vera Bradley Continues Tradition of Raising for Breast Cancer Research

October, among other things, is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In addition, to creating more awareness for the disease, the time is used by companies find creative ways to raise money for research. Some brands might decide to house a hero product with pink packaging, others might add a custom pink color to their products. In short brands are findings ways to encourage customers to buy these products where proceeds will benefit cancer research. One such company taking part in the month long initiative is Vera Bradley. “We began raising funds for breast cancer research in 1993 after the loss of our dear friend and co-worker, Mary Sloan,” explained Barbara Bradley Baekgaard, Co-Founder of Vera Bradley. “Since then, our commitment to this cause has evolved into the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer. Together with our amazing donors, devoted event participants and selfless volunteers, we hope for a future free from breast cancer.”

This year the company’s Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer, announced they raised $2.2 million at their annual Tickled Pink.  At the event five hundred women dedicated to finding a cure for breast cancer gathered for a girls night out for a good cause. To date the foundation, has raised $30 million. Additionally, as part of their research funding efforts,  Vera Bradley, has created a special Weekender style “Modern Medley”  featuring the breast cancer awareness pattern.
