Sean Malcom Celebrates Birthday with 1920’s Inspired Soiree
When I turn thirty, in a couple of years*, I am going to study Sean Malcom‘s book – how to celebrate the big 3-0 in style. This past Saturday, the King Magazine Editor-in-Chief, along with Hilliard Media and Quintessence Media & Marketing, transformed Honey Lounge into a glitzy parlor inspired by 1920’s Harlem. Guests were asked to wear attire of the era or face being denied admittance to the party.
Much to my surprise, the treat seem to work and most attendees wore appropriate clothes. Males guests wore suave suites; while female guests wore either flapper dresses or very revealing Betty Boop inspired dresses. Most dresses were paired long pearl necklaces and/or funky headbands. Even the bouncers dressed for the occasion and donned 1920’s inspired suites. For a Saturday night these bouncers looked surprisingly dapper.
Upon entering the freshly transformed lounge, a hostess in 1920’s regalia gifted guests with “spending money” to use at the various casinos station. The different casino gaming stations were conveniently placed throughout the lounge. Upon walking further, guests noticed the black, gray, and white balloons that lined the ceiling as Jazz tunes played in the background and waitstaff (not surprisingly) wearing period clothing passed food.
The fun activities temporarily stopped when birthday boy made his appearance around 12:30 with his lovely date.
Sean’s arrival, brought a new energy to the party. The music changed and the party got just a tad crazier. After the casino playing was over, a Def Jam Rapstar booth was erected. A fun rap war ensued and guests continued their partying.
*I may have in fact already celebrated the big 3-0 but since a real lady never reveals her age… you’ll never know.
