Lorick Spring 2011
I have a soft spot for Lorick‘s designer, Abigail Lorick, there’s a serene and calming presence around her. The aura she emits is often seen in her designs – her collections unfussy and unpretentious. Lorick’s silhouettes are classic, girly, with simple lines paired with cool fabrics in the most adorable sets of colors.
The Spring 2011 collection, however, is surprisingly different from Lorick’s typically serene and frilly girlish pieces. The Spring 2011 collection features a series of different silhouettes. The collection has long hanging dresses in sheer separates with funkier lines than the Lorick girl is used to. Inspired by Agnes Martin, “LORICK has discovered the strength and the beauty of the human hand in the collection entitled Linear Dawn.”
This “Linear Dawn” collection is uber stylish – we love the loose fitting dresses in cool pastels colors. These flowing pieces are perfect for layering but are also so stylish that they can also be worn stand-alone. The fabric and color choices still have the Lorick quality. The pieces still feels girly and soft but with the change of Lorick’s traditional silhouettes this collection is decidedly less frilly and more mature.
The Lorick 2011 gal will rock some fabulous dubs that will stand amongst the crowd.
