Orta Blu Presents the Beets and Recycled Jeans
Late last night, we made our way over to Skylight West to attend a fabulous roof top concert featuring music by the Beets and presented by Orta Blu and Coterie. This concert was so hot, the cops felt compelled to pay a visit and shut the party down. Luckily, even the law couldn’t stop this party, which was quickly relocated in doors to the VIP lounge area where DJ T*O*N*Y was spinning electrifying beats. VIP was treated to an open bar of cocktails and wines. Waiters circulated with trays of elegant or d’ oeuvres. As the sun set over the New York City skyline and party goers mellowed to the buzz of dusk, the Beets began their set of indie garage sounds.
It gets even better. The walls of the Skylight West showcased Orta Blu posters of their recycled stylish jeans. You read right. Recycled jeans! Orta Blu teams up with Covenant House, a non-profit shelter that houses homeless youth in New York City, to provide new jeans to the charity in exchange for old ones, which are recycled and re-envisioned into Orta Blu fashions. By partnering with designers, Orta Blu reclaims, recycles, and re-manufactures denim fashions. Fantastic!
