#NYFW: Rebecca Taylor Spring 2014
Show: Rebecca Taylor Spring 2014
Inspiration: Spring 2014 is modern romanticism. Construction details and trims reference early American workwear, with a hint of feminism. Key silhouettes experiment with proportion – cropped tops, full trousers and teacup skirts are paired with soft, modern volume in rounded sleeve shapes.
Makeup: Sil Bruinsma for MAC Cosmetics; Hair: Kevin Ryan & Frank Rizzieri for Aveda; Nails: Marian Newman for MAC Cosmetics.
Front Row: Zosia Mamet, DJ Chelsea Leyland, Molly Thompson, Olivia Palermo
What We Thought:
For spring 2014 Taylor designed a collection with a sporty vibe. The collection was saturated with perforated jackets, dresses, and tops. It also included a medley of feminine floral dresses, bold floral suits, and flirty pleated skirts adorned with exposed zippers offered a well-executed balance of sporty and girly. Leave it to Rebecca to make sporty look effortlessly polished. This collection offered lots of separates which were prevalent in the styling. Tailored shorts paired with cropped tops, open knit sweaters thrown over A-line pleated skirts, patchwork denim jackets paired with pleated trousers were a perfect mix of downtown cool meets uptown swank.
We will probably see lots of young Hollywood starlets this upcoming spring in Rebecca Taylor because this collection was sleek, light, and uncomplicated. The type of clothes that you just put on without any other bells and whistles and instantly look pulled together. Isn’t that what spring dressing is all about anyway? ‘— Alissa S.
