What We Thought:
For Spring/Summer 2016, Erin Fetherston introduced a few twists on her signature ode to femininity and romanticism. Delicate elements made their appearance in their collection a la sheer fabrics and lace details, but the biggest reveal for the designer this season was the introduction of minimal, relaxed denim pieces that included culottes and overalls.
Overall the collection consisted of looks that transported us to a wide, open pasture under the bluest of blue skies – Fetherston describes the collection as having a “mood of arcadian reverie” and named it “Beneath the Bluest Sky.” It’s no surprise then that sky blue was the dominant color of the collection that tied the earthy pastels and Victorian whites together, and somehow Fetherston seemingly effortlessly worked slips in to make a statement on their versatility in dressing by pairing them with capelets or beneath chiffon dresses.
We were tickled by the new capsule collection of minaudières, too, which featured kitschy images (batting eyelashes) or sweet sayings stitched in needlepoint.
