Last season Christian Siriano attempted to show a collection that was dark, and that featured more structured pieces with less of his trademark glamorous gowns. The resulting collection was not particularly well received and obtained mixed reviews (though as Justin Beiber like fan of Christian Siriano we loved the Fall 2011 collection just the same) but after experiencing sophomoric growing pains it seems- Christian is back.
His Spring 2012 collection is spirited, lively, cohesive, and so well executed. From the moment the first look walked down the runway it was clear Siriano had grown. Still, he successfully managed to remain true to his personal design aesthetic; for that we are thankful. The collection was superb.
The skirts featured body hugging silhouettes with looser lower bottoms. These skirts are so sexy but most importantly do not appear restricted. The pants were stunning, sophisticated and definitively a must have for the office fashionistas. Still the “younger” Siriano peeked through in his collection of stunning organza gowns. Said gowns are sleek, charming, and oh so delightful. We particularly enamored with his last number Christian sent down the runway because its best demonstrated the two worlds Christian is currently living in – young and grown up. In this collection he stuck to a very limited color palette-Citrus, White, Oyster, and Chartreuse, but it worked so perfectly with the looks he showcased.
