Hot! TGIF Cocktail Recipe of the Day: Let’s Celebrate National Rum Day

It’s Friday but most importantly it’s also National Rum Day. You know what means: party time. Let’s celebrate rum day with these festive cocktails.

Cali Queen Bee

2 oz Caliche Rum
3/4 Fresh Lemon Juice
3/4 Honey Syrup
Lemon Peel

Directions: Combine all ingredients in a shaker filled with ice, shake vigorously until well chilled. Strain into cocktail glass and garnish with lemon peel.

Cruzan® Pineapple Passion
2 parts Cruzan® Passion Fruit Rum
2 parts Pineapple Juice
1 part Lime Juice
1/2 part Honey Syrup
2 Pineapple Chunks
Fresh grated Cinnamon

Directions: Combine all ingredients in a blender with 1 cup of ice and blend for 20 seconds. Pour into a cored pineapple and garnish with fresh mint. Note: Slice the top of the pineapple off a half-inch from the top. Core the inside of the pineapple. Don't have a pineapple corer handy? Core your pineapple with an ice cream scoop! Make sure you don't scoop all the way to the skin or your pineapple will leak.

1 Numi Orange Spice Tea Bag
8 oz. Apple Cider
2 oz. Ron Abuelo Añejo rum

Directions: Heat Cider until very hot. Steep 1 Tea Bag directly in Cider for 5 minutes, covered. Uncover, add Rum and stir. Garnish with Cinnamon.

1 oz Bacardi Light Rum
2 oz Orange juice
2 oz Pineapple Juice
2 oz Mango Puree
½ oz Grenadine
1 oz Disaronno Amaretto
1 oz Bacardi Select Rum

Directions: Pour Bacardi Light Rum, Orange Juice, Pineapple Juice, Mango Puree and Grenadine. Float Disaronno Amaretto and Bacardi Select Rum on top.
Add orange and cherry for garnish.

Night with a Carioca

2 oz Leblond Cachaca (Brazilian Rum)
4 lime wheels
0.75 oz Maraschino liquor
Fresh Grapes

Directions: Muddle lime wheels with Maraschino liquor, add Cachaca and 6 Grapes. Shake and pour without straining in a Rocks glass. Garnish with a Grape.

Peanut Rum
Chocolate Bitters

Directions: Combine ingredients

Cuba Libre
* Served at Casa Pomona
2 oz. Cana de Brava Rum
4 oz Sugar Cane Cola
2 Lime wedges cut into pieces
Angustora Bitters

Directions: Fill a highball with ice, pour the rum, add 4 lime pieces and stir. Pour the cola and finish with a dash of bitters.

Reserve Jamaican Breeze
1.5 oz. Appleton Estate Reserve Rum
1 Slice Fresh Ginger – Muddled
2.0 oz. Fresh Pineapple Juice
0.5 oz. Simple Syrup (1-1 Sugar to Water)
Dash of Angostura Bitters
Lime Wheel

Directions: Muddle ginger in a pint glass. Add remaining ingredients and ice. Shake and strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice and garnish with a lime wheel.

Mai Tai — Don Q Rum

2 oz Don Q Cristal
1 oz Don Q Limon
1 tsp Grenadine
1 oz Lime Juice
1/2 tsp Powdered Sugar
Splash of Almond Liqueur

Directions: Shake well, add a splash of almond liqueur, serve over ice and garnish with a slice of orange and a cherry.


2 oz ATLANTICO Platino Rum
.75 oz Fresh Squeezed lime juice
.75 oz Simple syrup
1 oz Pineapple juice
Blood orange wedge

Directions: Muddle wedge of blood orange in shaker. Add ice and other ingredients. Shake and strain into rocks glass. Garnish with blood orange and mint.
