Hot! Gallery Beauty Saviors: Bridal Shower Edition

Wedding season continues. I recently attended my friend’s fabulous bridal shower, but much to my dismay, I faced a slew of beauty challenges to tackle leading up to the day of… everything from tired eyes to an unsightly whitehead that surfaced virtually overnight after a stressful week. Check out the products that saved the day.

Mario Badescu Drying Cream

Lo’ and behold – the day before the shower, a painful, ugly whitehead surfaced near my eye on the upper part of my cheek. I was already out of town and wishing I had my Mario Badescu Drying Lotion (at home in my cabinet), but was thankful to find my Mario Badescu Drying Cream handy. I applied a dab of the cream directly to the pimple and crossed my fingers.

Earth Therapeutics Recover-E Cucumber Eye Pads

I noticed that the skin around my eyes was looking like it needed a little extra TLC, so I plugged in my headphones, put on some soothing music, and laid back in bed as I let these Cucumber Eye Pads do their magic. I smelled the fresh scent of real cucumber as soon as I opened the package, and upon placing an eye pad over each eye, I immediately felt a cooling sensation. Planning on leaving them on for 15 minutes (recommended time for each usage is between 10-30 minutes), I became so relaxed that I ended up falling asleep!

$7.00 (5 pairs per package, 10 pads total)

Origins Sensory Therapy Peace of Mind

My nose was feeling a little congested and a headache was settling in. Before bed, I grabbed Origins’ Peace of Mind on-the-spot relief and massaged it into my earlobes, temples, and the back of my neck. The strong notes of peppermint and eucalyptus oils were soothing as I took deep breaths and drifted off to sleep. $12.00

LCN Nail Polish in Lilac Blossom

I adore LCN’s Blossom Sorbet spring collection so much that I’ve been wearing the shades a lot during the summer. My nails needed a pick-me-up, so I grabbed Lilac Blossom and it instantly brightened up my tips and toes with a pop of soothing, uber feminine blue-lavender. I've lost count on how many compliments I always get with this shade!

$7.40 for Lilac Blossom

$24.90 for Blossom Sorbet Box Set

Nu Me Curling Wand

Waking up the next day (the morning of the shower), I noticed the whitehead had reduced noticeably in size but needed more time to fully heal. Admittedly, this pest was the inspiration behind the idea to curl my hair for the occasion. I whipped out my trusty Nu Me Curling Iron, slipped on the glove (can never be too careful), and got to work.

I have a lot of hair, and it’s really thick – but I can count on this iron to give me the airy curls I desire in a reasonable amount of time.

Garnier Sleek & Shine Anti-Humidity Hairspray

This is by far the best hairspray I’ve tried so far. Unlike many other sprays, it does not leave a single strand of hair with that tough, “crunchy” texture. Instead, hair feels like it’s normal texture – if not softer. Plus, I put the “anti-humidity” part to the test – it had just rained (and I mean pouring rain) when I went to the shower, and to my delight, the curls stayed intact just as I had styled them.

Garnier Volume Extend Instant Bodifier Dry Shampoo

Anytime I curl my hair, I have to use this on my roots – it works magic at keeping the hair on the top of my head full of volume (preventing all my styling work from flattening out, even when it’s up against extreme humidity).

Teamine Concealer by Revision Skincare

For an extra boost of coverage under the eyes, I used Revision Skincare’s Teamine Concealer. After having already used a daytime moisturizer, I felt that it had just the right amount of moisture to supplement in the delicate skin surrounding the eyes. The color blended right in when I massaged it gently with my ring finger.
