Tried & True: Why eSalon Custom Hair Color is Fabulous
Yes – I said it – eSalon is fabulous (pretty much the highest rating we can give it here at TFR!). We previously shared how eSalon is changing the game of at-home hair coloring, but enthusiastically took our investigation further by paying a visit to Pierre Michel Salon and its renowned Color Director, AJ Lordet (who is also eSalon’s East Coast Style Ambassador) to get the full scoop on the process, quality, and results of using eSalon’s suite of products.
We started off by reviewing my responses in eSalon’s online evaluation and my coloring aspirations – exactly as eSalon’s colorists would do virtually. What I wanted: subtle color layered into my black hair- ideally a violet or burgundy tone. But my hesitation from past dye jobs was that the darkness of my hair just wouldn’t hold the very color that I wanted. AJ reassured me that we could go with Violet as I pulled up my color chart in the online evaluation.
In mere minutes, AJ demonstrated the application of the custom violet formula mixed just for me (as eSalon colorists would do) and the result was exactly what I wanted. To top it off, I was instantly hooked on the Shining Armor Renewing Treatment Oil, which has a delicate fragrance and nourishing blend of argan and coconut oils, along with vitamins to not only protect hair overall but also specifically maintain richness of color. I don’t remember the last time my hair felt this soft than after I used this treatment oil.
In the end, what you can expect from eSalon is a truly custom kit with a salon-grade formula mixed based on your preferences and features (they even have your name right on the hair color label). Take it from me – I am so in love with my new color and it really feels like it was created just for me… because it was!
Side note: Our special thanks to AJ Lordet for the demo session. She is simply awesome at what she does and tons of fun to be around. Between helping clients discover a great color match (whether they’re looking to do ‘their usual’ or want to mix it up and be adventurous with a dramatically different color choice) and making the coloring process feel like a breeze, a trip to Pierre Michel (located at 135 E 57th Street, between Park & Lexington Ave.) is an indulgence that every gal deserves to treat herself to sometime.
