Whitney Art Party at Skylight Studios
I gave you an insider peak at the first party on the High Line and now I am taking you behind the velvet rope for a front row view at Whitney’s annual Contemporaries Auction and Art Party at Skylight studios. The Auction aims to assist future artists who will carry out the Whitney mission of expanding American art. Furthermore, the Contemporaries keep the Whitney flourishing and help to bolster the Museum’s pledge to help young artists in the fulfillment of the Whitney mission.
Like Highline, Whitney aims to raise money from the event to support their mission. A ticket for the private reception will set you back $400 and if you only want to attend the party that will set you back $250 (these are the non member price) and the opportunity to view the art works while drinking bubbly and mingling with the artists and the many celebs. And Celebs, where in the house, partying it up, and drinking it up like me. See celebs are people too.
The crowd seemed to slow to warm up to the party. I guess they were busy enjoying the art but it didn’t seem so. Most people where just chatting and posing (yes it was that kind of party) tons of expansive shoes and dresses so I didn’t think that this was the dancing kind of crowd. But when Jaime Foxx song “Blame It (On the Alcohol)” came on, everyone began to dance and sing. I spotted Lake Bell, Melissa George and Ali Later all getting to down to that song. I wonder if any of them ever blamed it on the alcohol? HMM.
I knew I was in for a great party when I spotted Amber Tamblyn in her A-symmetrical black and white dress walk to the red carpet. I love Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Don’t judge me, I love cheese movies and I don’t care who knows it. There I said it. Strangely though, once inside Ms. Amber T. was nowhere to be found. I did see Alexis Bledel in a tight dress which seemed to be silhouette of choice among the woman at the event. Everyone at the party appeared to wear a tight dress as possible and they all look wonderful. Bitches, and I say that in the most not hating way possible. Speaking of “divas” what’s up with Ivanka Trump? She has the most luminous skin how is that possible? I bet her mother slather with moisturizer as a baby as my friend suggested. Argh, again I am not a hater just saying.
Other celebrities in attendance included Selita Ebanks, Camille Belle, Max Azria, Lindsay Price, Maggie Grace, Gretchen Mol, Heather Tom, Bradly Cooper, Lydia Hearst and some others.
Well, after blaming it on the alcohol one too many times, I decided it was time to take my non luminous skin self home. And, just my luck it was raining but fortunately for me (my hair doesn’t like rain) on the way out guests were handed BCBG umbrellas. Not a bad way to end a lovely night.
