Whitney Art Party: A Crazy House of Awesomeness…
Flashing lights going off for Kate Bosworth at Usain Bolt lightning speed is just one sign of the intensity that is the Whitney Art Party; the cadre of fashionista with their extravagant sequins gowns mingling with art cognoscenti, as endless Belvedere cocktails and Chandon is consumed, is another indication of the fabulosity that is the legendary celebration.
Held on Wednesday, at Skylight Soho, the jet-set revelers including evening co-hosts Theory Olivier Theyskens, Bettina Prentice, and Denise Incandela, as well as other notables attendees including Lubov Azria, Charlotte Ronson, Derek Blasberg, Erin Fetherston, Annabelle Dexter Jones, Tinsley Mortimer, Hannah Bronfman, Kaelen Haworth, not only bid on the various of works of art scattered throughout the space but were also treated to performances from Iona Rozeal Brown and Kalup Linzy.
Linzy, wearing a lace front wig, which depending on which side of the fence you fall – it was either amazing or hella cray (for the record– we were just confused), entertained as his alter ego — a woman; telling the crowd “thank ya’ll for coming out this evening. Tonight, I’m performing as Kaye, but tonight is about Taiwan,” and then launched into a medley of songs. At one point a member of his band offered guests dessert including chocolate flowers, jello in the form of a snow globe, from a coffin (editors note: it happened, I saw it).
The art party which was hosted by Theory and Saks Fifth Avenue continued with an after party at Number 8.
