Hot! Gallery TGIF Cocktail Recipe of the Day: Let’s Toast to Cinco de Mayo

As an Hondurian girl from a soccer loving family, it is my duty to dislike anything Mexican related (in jest of course) so says my mother because they dashed her hopes for team to win a cup. The hate is real.  But, in the spirit of Cinco de Mayo and celebration am willing let bygones be bygones. Join me in celebrating Cinco de Mayo in style with some savory themed cocktails.

Papaya Smash
Bootie Call2
Mexican Margarita (Cinco de Mayo)

South American Margarita
1.5 oz KAPPA Pisco
0.5 oz Grand Marnier Cordon Rouge
0.5 oz agave nectar
1 oz fresh lime juice

Directions: Shaken, strained over fresh ice into rocks glass, garnish lime wheel.

Inni-rita by Inniskillin

2 oz. Inniskillin Cabernet Franc Icewine
1 oz. Tequila Blanco
1/2 oz. freshly squeezed lime juice
1 oz. freshly squeeze grapefruit juice

Directions: Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake to chill. Strain into a salt rimmed martini glass or over ice in a salt rimmed rocks glass. *Takes on a Classic Margarita.

Dark n’ Feisty

2 oz. Vikingfjord Apple Vodka
.75 oz. EO Pomegranate Grenadine
.75 oz. Lime Juice
1 Bar Spoon of Cinnamon Sugar

Directions: Combine all ingredients into a cocktail shaker. Shake with ice and strain into a cinnamon sugar rimmed cocktail glass.

Alizé COCO Peach Cinco Smash

1 oz. Alize COCO Peach
1 oz. Bourbon
1 oz. Lemon Juice
Handful of Mint

Directions: Muddle mint and lemon juice, add other ingredients, shake, strain into glass over crushed ice, garnish with mint spring and lemon wedge.

SVEDKA Three Amigos

1½ parts SVEDKA Vodka
Dash hot sauce
1 part fresh lime juice
½ parts raspberry syrup
Top with Negra Modelo beer

Directions: Build ingredients over ice in a Collins glass and stir gently. Garnish with a lime wheel and a hot pepper. 
*Raspberry Syrup Instructions: Dice 1/2 cup raspberries and steep in warm simple syrup for 72 hours. Fine-strain and store in a refrigerator.

SAPPHIRE East Snapper

1 ½ parts BOMBAY SAPPHIRE East Gin
4 parts Tomato juice
¼ parts Lemon juice
¼ parts Soy sauce
Small palm of diced lemongrass
Pea of wasabi
Pinch of sea salt
Pinch of white pepper

Directions: Build with ice in a highball. Garnish with lemongrass.

Papaya Smash

1 Slice of Fresh Papaya
¼ oz. Agave Nectar
1 ¼ oz. Avión Añejo
½ oz. Aperol
½ oz. Orange Juice
¾ oz. Fresh Lime Juice

Directions: Add a slice of fresh papaya and agave nectar to your mixing glass. Muddle to release the papaya flavor. Combine ingredients in shaker with ice and shake vigorously. Strain over ice, and garnish with a fresh slice of papaya.

Agave Nectar
Watermelon Juice
racked Black Pepper

Directions: Combine ingredients. Garnish with black pepper.


Mexican Margarita

Handful of frozen grapes
Skinnygirl Sweet ‘n Tart Grapefruit Margarita
Sugar or Splenda for rim
Lime garnish (optional)

Directions: Coat the rim of a margarita glass with sugar. Pour Skinnygirl Sweet ‘n Tart Grapefruit Margarita over frozen grapes. Garnish with a lime (optional).

The Palomino

1.5 oz/50ml Belvedere Unfiltered
3/4 oz/20ml Medium/Dry Sherry
1/2 oz/15ml Dolin Dry

Directions: Stir all ingredients over cubed ice in a rocks glass. Garnish with rosemary sprig.
