Hot! South West France Wine Tasting (Apr. 18)

Southwest Wine
Free In-Store Tasting

Sun, April 18th 2010 3.00pm-6.00pm

Ah, the South West of France—the land of foie gras, cassoulet and wine! Yes, L’Aquitaine, as the South West of France is also known, is the land of those things, but it is also a land of paradox. The region is technically home to Bordeaux, which is perhaps France’s, and indeed the world’s most famous wine region, yet the South West in a greater sense is all but forgotten as a fine wine producing region. Indeed many people don’t even associate Bordeaux with the rest of the South West of France!

Importer Ed Addiss is one man who is dedicated to bringing the often obscure wines of the France’s South West to wine lovers here in the US. His company, Wine Traditions, focuses on importing the limited production wines of small producers, many of which certainly qualify as mom and pop operations. His portfolio is among the best for traditional, quality driven producers from this region and on Sunday April 18th, from 2-6pm, we are very excited to welcome him to the store along with a few of the winemakers he represents for a comprehensive tasting of more than 15 wines from the South West. The tasting will be a great opportunity to educate your palate, and experience the myriad wines the South West has to offer.

We will be tasting the following wines:

Domaine du Cros Marcillac “Vieilles Vignes” 2006
Domaine Brana “Ilori” Blanc Irouleguy 2007
