Spotlight on Food: Lair Restaurant
Entrepreneurs Michael Levin and Illarion Parmit recently open LAIR, a 2000 sq. ft restaurant with a myriad of options to suit even the the most hardened New Yorker – it can work as a bar, lounge, restaurant, and even as a private event space for a true “all in one” dinning experience.
Located in New York City’s Soho/Nolita, where Obivia (201 Lafayette st.) once called home, the restaurant’s convenient location offers dinners – shopping in trendy Soho and great meals away from hustle and bustle of the busy shopping locale. What’s more with its french décor, rustic interior of exposed brick, distressed wood and hand-painted ethic art work, lavish pillows, Lair offers guests and wanna be partygoers a welcome environment that is accentuated by their succulent selection of food.
The light bites, the creations of Executive Chef Chris Cheung (of Nobu and Monkey Bar) feature Asian Fusion with “deconstructed” American influences. Though, not necessarily the most vegetarian friendly restaurant there’s still a wealth of options to suit just about every taste. During our visit we sampled selection while sipping on A LOT of cocktails. By far our favorite was the Mamma Mule (Absolut Vodka, cinnamon five spice syrup, apricot & ginger beer), we suggest you also try the Maid in the Cave (hibiki 12 year japanese whiskey, ginger infused agave, cucumbers muddled, club soda) and while dinning you must try the Pickled Vegetables, Toasted Salt and Chili Pepper Shrimp, and Stew of Chinese Vegetables. The dishes though simple stirred our imagination about food in ways we haven’t experienced before. Dinners can enjoy dinners an enjoyable night out with friends and loved ones after a busy shopping day. Now, who doesn’t love that?
We suggest you to journey there anytime Monday through Thursdays from 5:00 to 8:00PM to take advantage of the mid-week specials. Specials include a dry aged beef dumplings for $7.00, along with $7.00 glasses of sangria and dishes run $7 to $13.
