Cars, Charity, and Well Dressed Guests Happened at the Auto Show Gala
Last week, for the 14th year in a row the East Side House Settlement house welcome guest to a special preview of the Auto Show before it officially opened to the public. This year over 1,400 guests from diverse fields such as fashion, finance, art and sports were in attendance at the posh gala. And in the process these patrons helped raise a lot of money ($500,000) that will benefit the charity and its efforts to improve the conditions for the South Bronx and the surrounding communities.
During the cocktail hour portion, the well-heeled attendees noshed on light-bites, sipped on specialty cocktails, placed bids on a slew of items (proceeds also benefited the charity) and got a special peek at the 2014 Jeep® (who was the brand sponsor for the evening) Grand Cherokee Limited. While we only attended the cocktail hour portion of the event, we know the dinner was attended by a slew of notables including the evening chairs Philip L. Yang, Joan P. Young, Chris LaSusa, and Elia; the benefit committee chairs Fe Fendi, John Munson and Mariana Zois; and rapper Erick Sermon who auctioned off a “rapper for a day” experience via Sotheby’s Courtney Booth. As you would expect that experience generated a lot excitement from guests. However the highest auction of the night went to the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. “Haute wheels,” indeed.
All told more than 1,00 vehicles are currently on display featuring everything from the latest in technology, to environmentally-friendly, to budget-friendly options and to luxury cars.
