Ann Taylor Fall 2011
Last night (March 30), at Lower East Side newest hotspot Beauty and Essex (where we were discovered a fully stoked bar that serves champagne) a mélange of fashion types gathered around to preview Ann Taylor’s Fall 2011 collection and hear the sounds of Brazilian singer Bebel Gilberto.
This collection, unlike season’s past, seems to return to a more sophisticated Ann customer. The silhouettes are very conservative – the hemlines long, the pants wide legs, the necks scooped and the fit conventional; though most pieces are classic, the Sleeveless Trench Topper ($228), is trendy and stylish without being extreme. Expect minimal prints but lots of camel, whites, black, grey, and pop of colors sprinkled throughout collection.
Still, were Ann continues to shine both literally and figuratively is in their accessories. The assortment of accessories which were presented (as usual) are delightful, elegant and absolutely must-have. For instance, the Sculptural Cuff ($68) will transform any ensemble into a show-stopper and with that the Ann customer will certainly stand out.
The preview was followed by a cocktail reception which included MOET bubbly, light bites and a rousing performance from singer Bebel Gilberto (check out a video of her performance here). The singer performed a medley of songs, which we did not understand but we were still moved by her melodic sound. The night ended with a wonderful gift that included her music and an accessory from the collection.
