Newest Love Moises De La Renta for Mango (MDLR)
At just 25 years old, Moises De La Renta, the Son of Dominican designer Oscar the De La Renta, has amassed an impressive resume that is surely the envy of budding designers young and old. With his pedigree one can hardly be surprised. Though, he has established a name all on his own. In his short time in fashion world he has dressed First Lady Michelle Obama when she wore pieces from his ready to wear collection. Even his father has yet to have the honor to do so.
De La Renta, newest project a series of 10-limited edition embellished t-shirts, for the Spanish retailer Mango (MDLR) has already garnered buzz among many industry insiders. De La Renta, who discovered Mango over a decade ago while on a trip to Spain, gushed about his collaboration with the brand at the preview party saying, “I’ve always thought it was super cool, and its fresh young aesthetic is a perfect fit with MDLR.” The preview party for the collection was held this past Wednesday, at the Crosby hotel was attended by likes of celebrity stylist June Ambrose, fashionistas, magazine editors – including People en Espanol, and a wanna-be socialite who resorted to circling around actual socialites.
Though the affair was decidedly intimate, it perfectly showcased his budding talent and amazing sense of style and presentation. The embellished t-shirts were gracefully paired with a below-the-knee ballerina skirt and simple black heels. The limited edition t-shirts are embellished with jewels, stones, tulle, and plenty of sparkly appliqué, will retail between $49.90 to $69.90 when they hit stores in two weeks. Additionaly, the highly covet-able ballerina skirts are said to retail for the same price as the shirts.
We expect great things to come from this wonderful designer.
