Tips From a Celebrity Trainer: Maintaining a Healthier Lifestyle
Did you know that March is National Nutrition Month? This month on TFR, we’ve got a health and wellness focus – aside from our usual TGIF cocktail recipes (can’t help but indulge a little on the weekends!). It’s not quite spring just yet, and in this transition from one season to the next, people often get sick, experience low energy levels, and feel changes in their appetites. Celebrity trainer Paolo Mascitti gave us his top 5 tips for maintaining a healthy lifestyle and nutritious regimen. Paolo is also the founder of cibo verde, a meal delivery system and organic program with celeb fans including Hilary Duff, Ashley Tisdale and Justin Bartha.
Here’s the scoop:
A good night’s sleep lowers your stress, sharpens your memory and reduces craving for unhealthy food.
2. Choose colorful fruit and veggies.
They are packed with flavonoids and carotenoids – powerful compounds against inflammation and free radicals.
3. Don’t skip breakfast!
A lot of people think they end up saving calories if they avoid breakfast, but what they don’t realize is that they usually over eat later because the body is starved and trying to over compensate.
4. Choose healthy carbs.
Whole grains, beans, fruit and vegetables are digested slowly, helping you feel full longer and keeping blood sugar and insulin levels stable.
5. Go organic when you can.
Eating organic not only protects you from harmful pesticides and other chemicals – it provides you with more nutrients in every bite.
