TGIF: DIY Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day Like a Boss at Home
There’s something really special about the Irish love of a good time. The St. Patrick’s Day celebration, even for non-Irish is festive and jovial and naturally we just love the revelry. We might spend the day bar-hoping but if you don’t troll the bars to pretend you’re Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, here are 10 DIY cocktails recipes to get you going.
Cruzan® Good Luck Punch
1 750ml Bottle Cruzan® Strawberry Rum
24 parts Ginger Ale
6 parts Fresh Lime Juice
6 Rosemary Sprigs, Rosemary Ice Blocks
Directions: Pour rum into a punchbowl and add 4 sprigs of rosemary. Give it a quick stir, making sure to fully immerse the rosemary. Let the mixture sit for one hour at room temperature. After one hour, remove the sprigs of rosemary from the bowl and discard them. Next, add the lime juice to the rosemary-infused rum and chill in the refrigerator until you're ready to serve.
To Serve: Add rosemary ice block and ginger ale to your rum punch mixture and you're ready to go! Serve over ice in a punch glass. Garnish with a small piece of rosemary sprig.
Rosemary Ice Blocks: Fill a couple of round plastic containers with water and a couple rosemary sprigs and put it in the freezer. When serving your punch, float the ice blocks in the punch bowl.
SVEDKA's Four-Leaf Gimlet
1 1/2 parts SVEDKA Strawberry Lemonade
1/2 part fresh lemon juice
1/2 part simple syrup
1 quarter-sized sliced and peeled ginger
2 basil leaves
1 basil sprig
Directions: Muddle ginger and basil together and combine all remaining ingredients in a shaker. Add ice and shake. Strain over fresh ice in a rocks glass. Garnish with a lemon wedge and basil sprig.
Kilbeggan Secret Sour
Recipe by Joaquin Simo, Pouring Ribbons, New York City
1 1/2 oz Kilbeggan Irish Whisk
3/4 oz dry vermouth
3/4 oz simple syrup
1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
1/2 oz fresh grapefruit juice
dash orange bitters
club soda
Directions: Combine all ingredients except soda in a mixing glass over ice and shake. Strain into a Collins glass with ice and fill with soda. Garnish with a lemon peel.
AmaZING Luck
1.5 oz. ZING Vodka
5 Cucumber Chunks (approx 1 oz. juice)
1 Basil Leaf
Splash Lime Juice
slice of Cucumber
Muddle cucumber and basil. Add ingredients and shake served up.
Green Bloody Maria
2 oz Milagro Silver
1 Tomatillo
1 oz Lime Juice
.5 oz Agave Nectar
4 Cucumber Slices
1 pinch Cilantro
1 slice Jalapeno
1 pinch Minced Garlic
1 pinch Salt
Directions: Blend all ingredients without ice. Shake and strain into a tall glass with ice. Garnish with cucumber.
Bit Of Blarney
1 ¼ oz. Sobieski Vodka
¼ oz. apple schnapps
1 tbsp. sour mix
Apple slice for garnish
Directions: Shake all ingredients in shaker and serve in martini glass. Garnish with apple slice.
Luck O The Mojito
1 Tablespoon Fresh Lime Juice
4 Fresh Mint Leaves
2 Teaspoons Sugar
1/2 Cup brewed and chilled Green Tea
1 ounce white rum
Directions: In a zombie glass, muddle the lime juice, mint and sugar together until the leaves are lightly bruised. Add ice until the glass is almost full and then pour in the rum and green tea. Stir.
A Lucky Kiss
1 part Sauza® Blue Silver 100% Agave Tequila
½ part DeKuyper® Melon Liqueur
2 parts limeade
Sugar
Lemon slice (garnish)
Directions: In a cocktail shaker filled with ice combine all ingredients and shake to chill. Strain into a cocktail glass filled with ice and rimmed with sugar. Garnish with a lemon slice.
Emerald Green Charm
1 ½ parts Skinnygirl™ Bare Naked Vodka
3/4 part apple juice
¼ part agave syrup
Directions : Stir agave syrup with vodka in the base of a shaker until the agave syrup dissolves. Add apple juice and shake thoroughly with ice. Strain into a cocktail glass and garnish with an apple slice.
Modern Green Lantern
1 oz. Lucid Absinthe
1 ½ oz. melon liqueur
Splash of ginger ale
3 lime wedges
long green lime spiral
Directions: In a rocks glass, muddle 3 lime wedges. Add Lucid Absinthe, melon liqueur and ice to a shaker. Shake thoroughly and strain into lime muddled rocks glass. Add a splash of ginger ale and a lime spiral for garnish.
