Hot! Gallery #TBT: Our Associate Editor’s #NYFW Style Staples

In honor of Throwback Thursday, we are reminiscing on New York Fashion Week and how the winter always makes it a little more challenging to navigate. In an effort to find balance between style vs. comfort, we took extra care in making sure we had our essentials tucked neatly in our bags this season to brave the winter chill without looking like a hot mess. Take a look inside our Associate Editor Pauline‘s bag, which somehow maintained its sleek design while it kept her necessities close.

"Two of my favorite accessories that braved a grueling cold week with me: my black bag with gold accents and my knit, sky blue headband. I've been getting so many compliments on this bag, anywhere I go... you would never guess where it's from. Sears! Sears has totally upped its style game with trendier offerings and rebranding some of its labels. This Studio S Women's Alba Tote Bag ended up being the perfect carry-all for Fashion Week, and it looked luxurious to boot (despite the material being synthetic leather)! The shape of the bag is also unlike anything else I own. Dare to be different, right?

The headband is a custom, hand-knit creation by POPPY, an accessories brand I'm in the process of helping to launch. Having it with me was a quick fix to keeping hair tame (and ears warm) against the strong winds outside."

To purchase: Studio S Women's Alba Tote Bag, $98.00 at Sears;

"Here's a look at some of the things that fit into this deceivingly roomy bag! Some, not all (among the items not pictured: my Chromebook, which fit PERFECTLY). I decided to add in a small pouch within the bag for extra organization - sentimental to Fashion Week, it's a canvas pouch that Vivienne Hu gifted her front row guests last season during her Spring/Summer 2015 show.

Sears really pulled through for me in another way too, with this amazingly useful Sears Style USB connector hub that has any sort of plug I would need for my devices. I ended up using it more than once a day on multiple days to keep my phone alive (paired with my portable Vapor Power Bank)."

"Yes, on the days that I was running around from 8 AM - 10 PM, I made sure Philip Kingsley One More Day Dry Shampoo was within reach. This is my favorite dry shampoo as of late - I love the way it smells and it's super lightweight while it gets the job done. For me, it's been the most effective formula at absorbing the oils in my hair."

To purchase: $25.00 at Philip Kingsley

"I always carry a hand cream in the winter - it's a must. This season, I opted to pack something heavier in texture than what I normally use, since I noticed my hands were constantly dry and I was prone to getting paper cuts all the time. Paula's Choice Clinical Ultra-Rich Soothing Body Butter did the job wonderfully. It's super rich and I love that it has clinical strength -- so it's great for anyone with eczema or sensitive skin. The texture is really thick but the finish is smooth and soothing, not oily. My boyfriend has eczema on his hands and he loves this cream (in his words, it's "EPIC")... good thing he likes to use it overnight while I use it during the day, so we didn't have to fight over it while I took it on-the-go for NYFW!"

To purchase: $19.00 at Paula's Choice

"... for those paper cuts! Band-Aids can be stylish too. The "Isaac Mizrahi Loves" collaboration from Fall 2014 has a cute and happy design. I always like to have a few bandages in my bag during Fashion Week - you never know when you'll need one."

To purchase: $2.54 - $10.16 (prices vary by retailer) at Target, Walgreens, Drugstore.com, and more

"Lately, any day I've been wearing makeup, this NARS Iluminator (in Super Orgasm) has been a go-to. I swept this on my cheekbones and on my eyelids for a subtle shimmer during NYFW. I liked having it in my bag in case I needed a pick me up hours later after first applying it in the morning. It adds a luminous finish to my makeup."

To purchase: $30.00 at NARS Cosmetics

"I carried a mini of this MAKE UP FOR EVER Rouge Artist Natural Lipstick. I didn't want anything too dramatic for NYFW that would either dry out my lips, need lots of reapplication, or be too saturated in color in case it got on the scarves I was bundling up in. This lipstick offered a soft, sheer finish that complemented my natural makeup."

To purchase: $20.00 at MAKE UP FOR EVER and Sephora

"diptque Philoshykos Eau de Toilette is one of the most complex fragrances I've ever worn - but that's why I love it. It's a sophisticated and crisp floral scent that contains hints of warm fig fruit -- not at all overbearing and super fresh. It's one of the few fragrances I've come across that I would personally wear year-round, rather than on a seasonal basis. It's always nice to have a mini of this on hand for a pick-me-up anywhere, anytime."

To purchase: $125.00 (3.4 oz) at Nordstrom
