Hot! Gallery Here’s How Thrive Causemetics is Changing the Beauty Game

New York Fashion Week may have come and gone, but there’s one event from this season that will last in our memories for a long time for its meaningful impact on the community. Our friends at Thrive Causemetics, under the leadership of founder Karissa Bodnar and in partnership with a slew of high-profile supporters, hosted the first ever beauty runway show during NYFW. It’s just as it sounds — a runway show dedicated to beauty… with a charity tie-in for the win.

We’re so proud we could be a part of the brand’s big day in multiple ways earlier this month. Starting with hosting a luncheon for influencers, the Thrive Causemetics team offered a sneak peek at upcoming products in the pipeline and also invited the group to play in a pop-up lab under the guidance of Bodnar. Beakers, pipettes, and gloves at the ready, the group created their own formulas for a nourishing, antioxidant-rich cleansing oil (science + beauty = how fun! And the resulting product is great for skin and also smells like candy…).

Within the same space at Midtown Loft + Terrace, Thrive Causemetics transformed the floor for its evening cocktail hour, runway show, and after party. Aside from the show itself, the main attraction greeted guests as soon as they walked in: a real life giving tree (designed by Francesco Bilotto) that invited the evening’s supporters to scribe notes of encouragement to women going through cancer treatment. The sweetest part of it all is that the handwritten notes will be accompanying a donation of the brand’s all-natural and vegan products to New York area hospitals valued at more than $25,000.

The runway show was made possible by the participation of various beauty editors as the models (including Good Housekeeping‘s April Franzino, Real Simple‘s Heather Muir, and POPSUGAR‘s Lauren Levinson). We may have also made an appearance…

The looks varied from focusing on one facial feature above the rest (layered lashes, bold eyebrows, and a teal lip fit for Thrive’s palette were all in the mix) to creating sultry and playful full-faced looks, with celebrity makeup artists including Tina Turnbow, Ashley Donovan, and Brian Dean at the helm.
