How I Get Motivated to Get My Sweat On! And How You Can Too!
According to the age all of saying which I have just made up, if you think skinny thoughts you’ll drop the excess pounds! Ha, just kidding! Wouldn’t that be just amazing? I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news but science, sadly tells us, that in order to drop the unwanted pounds, exercise if the healthiest way to do so.
There are additional benefits to a good sweaty session too. “Exercise is the single best thing you can do for your brain in terms of mood, memory, and learning,” says Harvard Medical School psychiatrist John Ratey, author of the book, Spark: The Revolutionary New Science of Exercise and the Brain. The benefits extend to stress too. In fact exercise is known to increase the concentration of norepinephrine in the brain, a chemical similar to dopamine moderate the brain’s response to stress. With all the benefits to working out is clear to see why doctors and health nuts recommend it so enthusiastically.
However, if you’re like me and the thought of working out leads you to question your life choices, they are things you can do motivate yourself and get your sweat on.
For me motivation starts with my workout clothes like the options offered at Sweaty Betty. Yoga, running and to some extent bicycle riding clothes can be very boring and uninspired. So, I tend to choose colorful and bold prints wear that is both functional and breathable. These simple things are very important to lifting my mood. When I am wearing clothes that I feel good in, I am more excited about trying a new workout a routine or working out in general. Because of my style and personality, what I wear can really help me get motivated. And, when that is not possible, I tend to choose shirts with whimsical sayings because why not?
As the exercise, I tend to choose workouts that don’t feel like workouts. I love dance, and dance for years when I was in High School. So when I am able to do I take a class at a studio but when I don’t have time I just get ready at home and blasts my favorite songs and just start moving. It’s really that simple.
