#NYFW: 60 Seconds with Monika Chiang
In addition to the designer inspiration sketches, this fashion week we are also asking designers a about their design process, what’s gets them motivated and some other fun questions. Here’s what designer Monika Chiang had to say.
The Fabulous Report: What are you eating to maintain your energy?
Monika Chiang: Eggs and fresh squeezed lemon juice in the morning. Eggs are the perfect fuel to get you started and the lemon juice helps boost your immune system when you are not getting enough sleep. In the afternoon I will have a green juice or some coffee to keep my energy up. I also try to get in my workout each day, as that really help me keep my energy up.
TFR: What has been the most challenging part so far?
Chiang: Making sure that all our samples come in on time and correct!
TFR: How do you stay motivated during crunch time?
Chiang: Actually, I have always been motivated by the pressure of crunch time. I get a burst of energy before a deadline that actually makes me more productive. I also have to ensure that I schedule my time efficiently.
TFR: How do you relax before the show?
Chiang: I listen to relaxing music.
TFR: What are you doing to prepare for the big day?
Chiang: Everything! I have to make sure that all the details come together.
TFR: Where are you doing after the show is over?
Chiang: Flying to Paris.
TFR: Vodka or champagne?
Champagne, but I prefer Tequila over either of those.
TFR: Miami or Hamptons?
Chiang: The Hamptons – but not the social scene. I prefer the quiet of being at home and just relaxing.
TFR: Cake or Pie?
Chiang: Hmmm…hard question! I guess it’s gonna have to be pie.
Monika Chiang, will present her Fall 2013 collection this Friday at Lincoln Center.
