Rachel Roy to Show Fall 2013 Collection Online
Anyone who stalks Rachel Roy on twitter or on instagram, is probably well aware of Roy’s love for social media. On instagram — one day Roy might share a picture of her daughter while on another she might share a picture of her travels– this is in addition to the daily behind the scene peeks with the fashion brand. So its not entirely surprising that Roy has chosen social media, in the form of an online show, to showcase her collection instead of the traditional medium of staging a costly production.
On February 14, Roy like Peter Som, will mount a digital presentation of the Fall 2013 collection. “Digital has always been an important platform for telling my story and connecting with women,” Roy shares with WWD. “It’s such a fixture in our lives and I wanted to explore how I could apply that to showing my collection this season.”
To build excitement for the presentation, which will be stream on Roy’s facebook page, on February 8th fans can logon to just about any social media platform including Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook and Vyou and view teasers. And, see some behind-the-scenes action including beauty looks. “It’s very inclusive and lets people experience and interact with all the elements that go into a fashion show,” Roy explained. “I wanted to create a different experience that transcends just a brief moment in time and deliver it in a different way so people can take the time and experience it at their own pace.”
