Designer Spotlight: Renzo + Kai Spring 2013
We recently got a chance to peek at the recently launched brand (first collection was in 2011) Renzo + Kai. We are pretty stocked with the offerings. Designed by Mrinalini Kumari, an Indian born and New York City raised designer who has worked with labels including Theory, Helmut Lang, Diane von Furstenberg, Valentino, Giorgio Armani and Etro, the collection beckons to be worn.
Pieces feature intricate hand-beading details, inspired by Kumari’s, life in the east and in the west, with charming feminine silhouettes infused with bold design and colorful fabrics. The resulting pieces include everything from red-carpet gowns, to dinner party dresses, to work appropriate wares and even a few leisurely pieces sprinkled in. Stand out pieces include the color-block beading dress, and the floor-length beading dress.
Renzo + Kai, retails between $200 to $1,200. And, the pieces are currently available at Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Shopbop and Calypso St. Barth.
