Wowser: Falling for Miuccia Prada Sketches for the The Great Gatsby
Thanks to British Vogue, we can imagine the costumes that will appear on the screen when Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby hits theater this summer. And, they are spectacular. Luhrmann, commissioned Miuccia Prada create looks for the movie. With the help of Catherine Martin, Prada who searched Prada’s archive for inspiration, created over 40 looks. For her part, Martin, was thrilled with the results. Telling British Vogue:
Our collaboration with Prada recalls the European flair that was emerging amongst the aristocratic East Coast crowds in the Twenties. The fashions of the time saw the development of a dichotomy between those who aspired to the privileged, Ivy League look of wealthy Long Island and those who were aspiring to European glamour, sophistication and decadence. Our collaborations with Prada reflect the collision of these two aesthetics.”
Naturally, we are excited to see the full line, until them we have the these sketches.
