Ann Taylor Summer 2011
Ann Taylor is having a moment – thank you very much! Katie Holmes was just announced as the face of the upcoming Summer 2011 campaign, which understandably garnered the retailer a lot of buzz. And, the collection which we just previewed is one of the strongest collection in recent memory.
The collection officially unveiled this Thursday (January 20, 2011) at the Glass Houses in Chelsea, was inspired “the artistry and architecture of Mexico” and the artist Frida Kahlo. The inspiration is evident with the prevalence of colors and prints including summer whites, sea blue prints, and corals; and has the appearance of Resort but it is so defined and simple. The fusion of both elements makes this collection perfect for the working gal who wants to add spice to her wardrobe. And, why Ann Taylor got it right – the collection is cohesive and offers customers wardrobe that is not only classic but is trendy without sacrificing comfort or style.
As in the norm – expect to see form-fitting feminine silhouettes in the jackets as well as the trousers, an exciting collection in cocktail dresses such a body hugging “Sunburst Sheath Dress ($178)” to a more body forgiving “Tie-Front Dress ($158).” Also, lookout for the addition of maxi-dresses. Standout pieces include the saffron “Breezy Linen Open Cardigan ($68),” “Jungle Floral Dress (158),” and the accessories.
During the preview editors heard a medly of songs from Carol C Sise and listened as “The Crystal Pharoah” manned the D.J. booth and enjoyed delicious bites over cocktails. Upon leaving guests including myself were giving an accessory from the upcoming collection, which is slated to hit stores in May.
