Wines, Wines are all the Rage at Bar Bordeaux
Oenophiles the Carlton Hotel has a new hidden gem just waiting for discovery. The hotel opened–Bar Bordeaux–a new bar exclusively (and the only in New York) dedicated to wines from the region.
The bar will host a galaxy of wines (even the sparkling kind) curated by the Bordeaux Wine Council, a trade group, just waiting for consumption and to expose wine lovers to the wines. “We want to teach people about Bordeaux,” Remy Pedussel, the wine director of Bar Bordeaux explains. As it happens, he shared only a small minority of costumers are knowledgeable of the wines. Something they hope to change by offering a curated list of wines that are “immediately accessible and well-priced,” said Mr. Pedussel
As a result the most expensive bottle is $250 (a 1978 Léoville Poyferré) and feature a pretty decent selection of wines for under $50. It’s open from 4 PM to 11 PM Monday through Saturday. 92 Madison Ave.; 212-889-7100
