Hot! Designer Milly Smith Partnering with Banana Republic

Banana Republic, whose parent company, Gap, recently made news for their recent acquisition of Intermix for $130 million, is making headlines because of their latest partnership with designer Michelle Smith. The designer is set to create an entire collection for both men (a first for her) and women for the retailer known for their business wares.

All in total Smith, whose feminine designs for her Milly label are a juxtaposition of classic Americana with bright and colorful prints, designed a 60 piece collection for Banana Republic. This means, a bit of flare is coming in May, when the collection will hit select stores and online but true to Banana Repulic aesthethic. Still loyal costumers will be pleased as the collection.

Simon Kneen, Banana Republic’s creative director and executive vice president of design, explained “the easy, breezy style of Milly and her Hamptons-chic style is a new take on aspirational summer dressing for our consumers.” For her part Michelle is thrilled with the collection, she told WWD, “It’s a very positive, happy collection… The colors and patterns capture the modern spirit of summer.

The selection will retail from $45 to $175 for women’s apparel, $24.50 to $64.50 for men’s wear, and $39.50 to $130 for jewelry and accessories. We can’t wait see the offerings.
