Fashion and Beauty Tips for Busy College Students

Young beautiful businesswoman working at home
As a busy college student enrolled in a computer information systems degree at Northeastern University, you probably don’t have a lot of spare time on your hands. Finding time to follow fashion and beauty tips probably isn’t going to happen. With that in mind we’ve put together a variety of quick and easy fashion and beauty tips for even the busiest college students.
Makeup in Five Minutes
Finding time in the morning to apply makeup can seem impossible, but what if we told you there was a “five minute face” approach you could take? This look will leave you feeling professional, put-together, and ready to take on whatever the day throws your way. The products you’ll need for this routine are a moisturizer with SPF, concealer, mascara, and a neutral shade of lip gloss.
You’ll want to apply your moisturizer with SPF to clean skin and allow it to soak in for about 30 seconds or so. Next, you can use spot concealer under your eyes to banish those typical dark circles caused by the late nights studying for your masters in CIS. If you have any other spots you want to cover, such as blemishes, go ahead and do so with the concealer. You’re then ready for a coat of mascara. Picking black mascara will give you the most impact and you can always do two coats if you want. Lastly, apply your lip gloss and you are then ready to run out of the door.
If you want to change your look up for evening, all you have to do is add eyeshadow and deepen your lip color.
Hair Tricks
One of the most time-consuming chores for women is to wash, blow dry, and style their hair. If today should have been a hair wash day but you just don’t have time, there are a few tricks you can use. Pick up a bottle of dry shampoo, which can be found at just about any drugstore nowadays, and spray it into your hair. If you don’t have a bottle on hand, baby powder rubbed into your roots will also have the same effect. Just be sure to rub well if you have dark hair, so you aren’t left with white powder residue. The spray shampoo and powder work to absorb excess oil and odor, allowing you to go that extra day.
If it’s just odor you’re dealing with, perhaps from a night out or cooking smells, you can take a fabric sheet and rub it through your hair.
Build a Mix and Match Wardrobe
It can be hard to follow all of the latest fashion trends, as you probably don’t have time to do so, and you don’t have the budget to constantly buy new items. A good approach instead is to build a mix and match style wardrobe. Invest in anchor pieces that work well with prints, patterns, textures, and multiple colors. By doing this you can grab accessories here and there as you like, or pick up that statement blouse or sweater and know it will work with what you’ve got.
It Can Be Done
Even on a student budget and with limited time there are still ways you can stay looking and feeling great with your makeup and clothing choices.
