BELVEDERE(RED) Took Over MPD This Weekend to Promote AIDS Awareness
Even by the standards of the raucous nabe, the Meatpacking District, was decidedly lively and festive this past Thursday. You see Belvedere Vodka took over and hosted one of the biggest outdoor celebrations we have ever seen. The streets surrounding Bagatelle NYC, shined a special shade of red, in honor of World Aids Day. Revelers, on the streets, rubbed elbows and packed the streets. With special glow sticks, commissioned for the evening, in hand these party-goers eagerly awaited the highly touted performance from electro-funk DJ Chromeo. We spotted the crowd going crazy as Chromeo performed “I Wanna Be Your Lover”, “Bonafied Lovin’ RAC Mix” and “Hot Mess.” Those on the VIP section or inside Bagatelle NYC, enjoyed an almost gratuitous sampling of delicious cocktails, including our favorite the (BELVEDERE)RED Sunset. A rousing musical set had guests including Shay Mitchell, Kelly Rutherford, Alan Cumming, Mia Moretti, Neon Hitch, Angela Martini, Jessica White, Carrie Keagan, Bridget Kelly, Jennifer Williams, Sky Nellor, Prodigy, Bip Ling, Andre Balazs and Andrej Peji jamming till closing.
While the night of the evening was fun, the real reason we were there and joined Belvedere— to help to raise awareness of AIDS and hopefully have the first AIDS-free generation born by 2015–wasn’t far from our thoughts especially after the brief speech from Belvedere higher-ups.
The Thursday, celebration was followed by a party on Saturday (on World’s AIDS DAY). Held at the rink of the The Standard Hotel, guests included Prabal Gurung, Yigal Azrouel, Lily Kwong, Brad Fisher, Brian Wolk and Claude Morais, sipped at warm cocktails and noshed on delicious sampling of light bites.
