Van Cleef & Arpels Unveils Holiday Window Display
There’s luxury and then there’s LUXURY and Van Cleef & Arpels is the epitome of LUXURY.
This past Monday (November 14) we attended a special party hosted by Nicolas Bos, President & CEO and Creative Director of Van Cleef & Arpels, at the company’s Fifth Avenue boutique, to celebrate the official unveiling of the new 2010 Holiday window displays. The striking window displays designed by famed designer Douglas Little pays homage to Van Cleef & Arpels newest jewelry line - Les Voyages Extraordinaires, a collection inspired by science fiction author Jules Vernes series of books. “When I first heard the story about the collection I thought it could be really fun to make the windows into toy theaters based on Jules Verne stories. From there I did extensive research on French and Italian toy theaters from the 18th Century. What makes them so interesting is that they are composed of many layers. What also gives them their charm is how low-fi they are. They are at once child like yet terribly sophisticated,” explained Little.
The decidedly intimate and festive affair included Perrier Jouet champagne and delicious bites with the most delicious candy mushrooms (EVER) and of course a series of tag-less jewelry on display. I mean seriously who needs price tags? Clearly, not Van Cleef & Arpel, because after all if you to ask how much something costs, you probably can’t afford it and that my friend is Luxury.
