Hot! IndieWalls Present Jon Barwick at Vinata Project

The sophisticated but hip meatpacking district joint Vinata Project recently hosted an art exhibition featuring the work of contemporary artists Jon Barwick, presented by IndieWalls. And what a perfect space to showcase such progressive artwork! Dim lights allowed for ambiance, and Barwick’s works were particularly highlighted in their own light in a dimly lit intimate space. Upon arrival, we were immediately offered a refreshing glass of Sangria, a recipe that was both tasty and contained the pleasant surprise of a bit of sparkle. The low key atmosphere was perfect for sparking conversations about Barwick’s pieces, which were looming on the walls and beckoning for analysis.

The collection hearkened a metropolis gone awry – images of geometric and architectural shapes showered canvases with overwhelming representations of the urban. What little life that seemed to spring up in these complex and intriguing images alluded to the mechanical – upon close observation we spotted robotic images peeking out from among the chaos. Barwick does a fantastic job mixing patterns, shapes, and colors that are both provocative and present an order within chaos.
