New York Times and CFDA launch Fifty Photographs Collection at Bloomingdales
Last night, the New York Times and the Council of Fashion Designers of America celebrated the launch of their Fifty Photographs Collection at the 59th street Bloomingdales. Top fashion designers Diane Von Furstenberg, Michelle Smith, Prabal Gurung, Vera Wang and Zac Posen curated this provocative display of 50 iconic images from the New York Times archive.
It was a stunning display of riveting and memorable photographs that hearken key moments in history, document iconic images in fashion, give form to the rare and extraordinary, and highlight beauty in the ordinary. To sweeten the experience, commentary by each of the curators preceded each section of the collection, granting a peek into each curator’s artistic insight. Vera Wang’s section of fashion photographs was particularly stunning. Wine and or d’oeuvres circulated among a pleased crowd of art and fashion lovers. Guests were gifted with a catalogue of the photography with details on the photographers and their work.
Each of the 50 fantastic photographs that were on display can be purchased at http://www.nytstore.com/fiftyphotos. A percentage of proceeds from the sale of this collection on The New York Times Store Online will benefit the CFDA.
