Geoffrey Zakarian & Guests Celebrate the Debut of Jean de Lillet 2010
A few nights ago, we had the pleasure of attending the launch celebration of Jean de Lillet 2010. Hosted in Food Network personality and acclaimed chef Geoffrey Zakarian‘s gorgeous east side food studio, the fete involved tastings of Maison Lillet’s new reserve Jean de Lillet 2010 paired with delectable bites dreamed up by Chef Zakarian.
As of October 23, Jean de Lillet 2010 is available at select retailers in the city as well as on AstorWines.com. Trust us, fellow cocktail aficionados… you’ll want to get your hands on a beautiful bottle or two while you can! Jean de Lillet 2010 has been produced in limited quantities and makes for a lovely gift during the holidays or fantastic way to entertain guests during any special occasion.
This premium Reserve is a unique blend of a single vintage of Sauternes wine, only produced in Bordeaux’s best wine years, with their house-made citrus liqueur. Upon unleashing the first sip on our taste buds, we were delighted by the notes of honey, candied orange, and toffee in this aperitif that is just perfect to enjoy très frais (chilled). Just in time for the holiday season, this aperitif pairs beautifully with popular holiday foods like pungent cheese, foie gras, and terrine. Ways to enjoy Jean de Lillet 2010 range from serving it on ice with an orange slice to topping it off with champagne, bitters, and orange (both options are equally divine). Chef Zakarian’s tip for pairing light bites with Jean de Lillet 2010: add spices like nutmeg and cinnamon into terrine — rich and savory bites complement the cuvée exceptionally well.
The bright side of stocking up now while quantities are limited: we can attest to enjoying Reserve Jean de Lillet 2010 now, but know that it will also improve with age (yum!), recommended 10 to 15 years.
