Demi Moore is one bad “_________ (insert your favorite shero adjective here).” Despite a messy breakup and recent tabloid fodder suggesting a proneness to uncontrollable crying fits (for the record we don’t believe a word of it), the star still managed to dust her shoulders and bravely face the media to support GEMS “Girls Like Us” Benefit Gala this past Wednesday.
Moore, along with a slew of notable names trekked to Museo del Barrio to toast GEMS founder Rachel Lloyd at the During the soirée, musician India.Arie belted her hit “I’m Not My Hair” to the packed house of charitable folks – including Nicole Ari Parker, Sarah Sophie Flicker, Tara Subkoff and Victoria Bartlett. Attendees also enjoyed dramatic readings from Rachel’s critically acclaimed novel, Girls Like Us. The moving and inspirational dramatic readings were performed by Demi Moore along with Natasha Lyonne, Yolanda Ross, Arden Wohl and Adepero Oduye.
The evening also included the tunes of DJ Kiss flowing libations from Caliche Rum and rousing performance Shontelle, who closed the show with a powerful performance of “Impossible.“
