Hot! Gallery 20 Years Later: Artist André Brasilier’s Return to New York

Acclaimed French artist André Brasilier received a warm welcome as Opera Gallery New York hosted a private reception for the opening night of his retrospective last week. The 88-year old has been absent from the New York art scene for two decades, and his new exhibition contains a whopping 40 new pieces of work alongside 10 retrospective ones from his private collection. Despite his hiatus from NYC, Brasilier still paints each day. His ultimate muse, wife Chantal, has been by his side the whole way, and her role as his inspiration is apparent throughout the exhibition, which is on display at Opera Gallery New York until Monday, November 13.

A number of works pay homage to the vibrant energy of New York City, while other common themes and figures include horses, musicians, and of course, Paris (Delphiniums a la Tour Eiffel, 1963, oil on canvas, is one of our favorite ones).
