Rebecca Taylor Spring 2012
Inspiration: The Spring 2012 muse is contemporary, fresh, and ethereal. The collection emphasizes cut and color with unexpected cut-outs in silhouettes. Shades of oyster are highlighted by bold citrus colors of lemon, lime and tangerine. Cropped slouchy embellished sweaters, long skirts and voluminous outerwear in technical fabrics add edge while apron back dresses mixed with bone colored snake leather bibs inject a paired down cool attitude which sets the tone for the Spring 2012 collection.
Front Row: Louise Roe, Jordana Brewster, Whitney Port, Sophia Bush and Ashley Tisdale
What We Thought:
To the casual observer of all things fashion, it’s obvious that Rebecca Taylor design clothes for an ultra feminine woman. Her silhouettes are loose and flowing which she often pairs with vibrant prints.
However, for her Spring 2012 collection, it seems Ms. Taylor decided to try something new. In this collection, the designer experimented with asymmetrical silhouettes and edgier design – a marked departure from what we are used to seeing. And, we are kinda digging it. Taylor’s Spring 2012 features a great selection of pieces including sequined tops, ethereal dresses, slouchy pants, and adorable jackets. Though, more muted than her previous collection (in terms of colors) the collection is complemented by the use of sheer fabrics (a major trend for the upcoming season), mesh and unexpected pops of colors that peek.
