Hot! Gallery Our Favorite Beauty Trends from #NYFW SS 2014

Dare we say we covered braids as a hair trend during last season at #NYFW… but they certainly were back in action at many Spring/Summer 2014 showings earlier this month. From graphic braids and sleek hair, to electric orange lips, to white nails, peek through our slideshow for a taste of spring/summer trends straight from the runway.

Tight, graphic braids were all the rage at Alon Livne. When we spoke with Nick Irwin, TIGI Global Creative Director, he let us in on a new trick he was trying this season to accentuate the hairstyle: carefully lining a layer of white eye shadow in between the rows of braids.

A super long braid intertwined with fabric from the collection added to the psychedelic “Rainbow Warrior Princess” vibe of Mara Hoffman Spring 2014 (also created under the direction of the fabulous Nick Irwin).

Classic French braids made their appearance in Diesel Black Gold Spring 2014 with styling by Redken.

Orlando Pita described the French braid for Oscar de la Renta Spring 2014 as a look he tried to create “that no one can do at home.” What do you think?

Over at Elizabeth and James, the low ponytail made its appearance with the help of Mark Townsend, who was quoted referring to the brains behind the brand, Mary Kate and Ashley – along with their belief that “hair doesn’t always have to be so perfect… they love hair that looks like you could do it yourself.”

Giulietta New York Spring 2014 was one of the showings that demonstrated how a simple ponytail done right could instantly be dressed up when paired with classic, tailored pieces. On top of that, the wisps of hair purposely left free from the ponytail exuded an ultra-natural look.

Victoria Beckham took a slightly different approach with her collection, accessorizing a plain ponytail with a black headband on every model.

And again at Mathieu Mirano – one of our favorite presentations this season.

Rag & Bone Spring 2014 certainly made a splash this season with a lip not to be missed – it’s bright orange! Will you try this trend?

Orange is certainly growing on us. Seen here at Marissa Webb.

Orange lip, check. Ponytail, check. Hello DKNY (and happy 25th anniversary show!).

Cushnie et Ochs Spring 2014 showcased multiple beauty trends from the ponytail to white nails (granted, with metal detailing for extra personality) by China Glaze.

At Band of Outsiders, we spotted the low-key white nails created by Katie Hughes for Butter London (two coats of Cotton Buds and a quick topcoat – as simple as that!).

Simple and clean. White nails continued at Karen Walker.

The white nails at Tracy Reese played off of another trend – the two-toned mani.

There was a lot of white happening at Kate Spade… but we’re focusing in on the use of Deborah Lippmann Pseudo Silk Kimono. To recreate this look at home, use Bad Moon Rising (a pewter shimmer) and It’s Raining Men (red) for the accents.
