Backstage Beauty at Timo Weiland: Sexy, Carefree Surfer Girl
For their Spring 2012 and first Mercedes-Benz fashion week presentation designer Timo Weiland along with codesigner Alan Eckstein, teamed up with Ouidad and Nars Cosmetics to create dazzling looks for the runway. With the help from the designing duo, whose inspiration for the Spring 2012 collection was “Jean Michael Basquiat on the coast,” hair maven Ouidad created sexy, tussled, loose and carefree surfer-girl hair —inspired by Hawaii in the ’60s and ’70s.
We caught up with Ouidad backstage where she shared with us how to re-create the looks at home; to get the look – Ouidad explained start with small amounts of Ouidad Climate Control Heat and Humidity Gel follow with Tress Effects Styling Gel and Play Curl Volumizing Foam, to add texture and prep the hair to recreate the look from the runway.
While hairstylist Ouidad aimed for carefree hair, the makeup was deliberate.
We also caught up James Boehmer, NARS Director of Global Artistry, who explained “The girls look really expensive.” Still he shared models look like they’ve come from a beach saying “The blush and loose powder that we used makes them look golden and sun-burnt.”
