What We Thought:
We are always excited to experience LIE SANGBONG in person during NYFW. The designer truly makes it a point to create an experience – a spectacle – with the ambiance of his runway show. This season, Mr. Lie collaborated with artist Dong-Shik Roe, who brought to life the large dandelion sculptures lining the runway. The large dandelion seed heads were made entirely from cotton and lent an air of wonder (and very springtime feel) even before the new collection was revealed.
The Spring/Summer 2016 collection, titled “Bojagi,” featured the brand’s signature sophisticated constructions juxtaposed with the ability to create a relaxed fit at the same time. The show began with a series of pure white looks in linens and silks, with Mr. Lie’s geometric interpretation in the form of varying cutouts. The collection then began to incorporate soft and timeless blue tones, constructed in the form of origami-like folds, asymmetry for personality, and lightweight fabrics in masterful, architectural silhouettes. Check out all the looks from the new collection below for a mix of airy and slightly menswear-inspired fits.
