Emmy Rossum Support Origins and Their Charity: Water Project
Last night, Origins hosted a cocktail hour for Charity: Water at faved rooftop bar Jimmy at the James Hotel and the atmosphere was simply smashing. We were met at the door by a friendly waitress beckoning us to partake in “red or white?” Who could resist? And as waiters circulated the indoor and outdoor spaces with mouthwatering hors d’oeuvres, including cone cups of garlic fries, shrimp gazpacho, crab salad sandwich bites, and coconut shrimp; the sunset over Soho, and the view, along with the company, was simply perfect.
Origins and their #SmartyPlants CC Cream were star hosts of the party. This light and forgiving cream, which has an SPF of 20, had us wonderfully intrigued. Very handsome models mingled with guests, touting samples of the cream — Spoiler Alert: We’re completely gaga – for Smarty Plants CC Cream, of course!
Emmy Rossum spokesperson for the event, attended right before jumping on a red eye back to Los Angeles to shoot on Shameless the next day!
“To watch these kids in developing nations walking five hours a day just to get their clean water – we’re literally standing in front of a pool right now which is making me feel guilty – we have so much of it and we take it so for granted. To make a donation could make such a big difference,” Rossum shared during the event.
When a brand like Origins teams up with a super-charity like Charity:Water, a non-profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing countries, folks are bound to listen. And we did — we learned about the organization’s renowned success in sourcing clean water to developing countries through their use of smart technologies for locating and sourcing water.
During the presentation Viktoria Harrison, shared a personal story from a village woman named Helen who walked several miles a day to lug 10 gallons of water back to her home, rationing that water, and putting her own self-hygiene behind the needs of her family.
“This is the first time I have felt beautiful,” she told Harrisonafter her little village received clean sourced water via the charity’s efforts.
Because Origins pride’s itself on the natural ingredients in their top quality products, the partnership with Charity: Water is seamless. A mere $30 provides one person in Ethiopia clean drinking water, and Origins will match the first 1000 pledges.
