#NYFW Backstage Hair Report: Venexiana SS 2014
It was a Venetian Carnival at Venexiana Spring/Summer 2014. CEO and founder of Tela Beauty Organics Philip Pelusi created the look, also celebrating Tela Beauty Organics as the first to bring USDA Certified Organics to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Pelusi described, “This seasons look is a nexus for my philosophy as a designer and product artist. My guidelines and design approach are always anchored and inspired by the principles of my trademarked cutting system – Volumetric. I see how ‘Venetian Carnival’ embodies my approach to hair cutting and design. I structured the V shape in the design to uplift cheekbones, draw attention to eyes, accentuate the shoulders, and support the shape, contour and carriage of the ‘feminine’.”
Pelusi provided a step by step “at home variation” of how to get the look, suggesting to twist the hair as an alternate to braiding (but if you’re ambitious, go for the braids!):
#1: To smooth, shine and bring instant moisture and health to hair – Apply a dime size amount of Tela’s USDA Certified HEALER to hands. Emulsify and apply evenly to hair, away from the hairline. Part hair down the center.
#2: Create a simple high twist of the hair from the temple to the nape – on both sides.
#3: Ponytail twist hair together at the nape. For hold, shape and definition here, use Tela’s USDA ENCORE until look is complete.
#4: Wrap a section of hair around the ponytail.
#5:: Do a simple 3 strand braid with the remaining hair. When finished, tuck under the ponytail and pin. Try Tela’s COMPOSER to finish and detail the look, adding moisture-rich shine.
TIP: for clean, smooth sections and fresh movable control, Pelusi suggests spraying Tela’s Dri Shampoo as needed throughout the process.
