#NYFW: Argentine Designers Spring 2014
Show: Argentine Designers
Inspiration: “In recent years, the increased visibility of local Argentine designers on the fashion world’s most prominent runways has earned Argentina’s thriving fashion industry global recognition. As a result, Argentine labels have expanded their presence, selling at top international retailers, opening new stores overseas, and increasing e-commerce distribution.”
What We Thought:
Top Argentine designers Agostina Bianchi, Mariana Dappiano, Marcelo Giacobbe, Daniela Sartori, Tenaz, Vivian Uchitel, and Gabian Zitta flooded the runway last week with 2014 spring and summer collections. These seven designers presented a variety of Argentinian flavors ranging from elegant to edgy.
Tenaz’s collection was fluttering with ruffles in soft whites and pinks. Charmingly delicate, this collection was filled with soft fabrics that fluttered gently with movement. Shoes provided by Gabi Roca rounded out the collection nicely.
Mariana Dappiano presented a collection filled with subtle shades of teal, cerulean and tan. Throughout the collection were prints meticulously designed in images that conjured budding Spring. We were particularly impressed by the Shelby gown, which was long, beautifully flowing, and adorned in geometric patterns of teal and rust.
Agostina Bianchi’s collection showcased pieces in cream with crochet accents adding depth and textrure. The cream and gold thread knit jumpsuit was beautifully ornate in detailed crocheting.
Viviana Uchitel’s collection, which was grounded by greys and beiges, bore wonderfully simple feminine elegance.
Daniela Sartori’s collection in black and cream showcased structure in simplicity. Haltered necklines with collars that rose gently to the nape of the neck were effortlessly elegant and chic.
Fabian Zitta hearkened images of the tin man with models donning silver cone hats that glistened down the runway with silver pieces and flowing lemon colored maxi.
Marcelo Giacobbe showcased pieces garlanded with ostentatious necklines of layered lace.
