What We Thought:
Mara Hoffman’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection is titled “The Sunrisers,” and much like the spirit of someone watching the sun rise, the designer’s latest showing was laid back and toned down just a notch from the pattern play of her previous collections. With the strive for “lightness” came a significant amount of white on display.
Hoffman still incorporated a rainbow palette somehow- though it is noticeably softer than the bursting prints we’re used to seeing from her. Silhouettes were kept long and flowy as tends to be her signature– aka that unexplainable, effortless cool. Hats by Yestadt Millinery added to the cool factor, like the baseball cap that appeared classic in the front, with a twist in the back (a trail of long and flowing fabric to match the nature of the silhouettes). As for the leafy imagery (which the designer wore from head-to-toe herself), we think it’ll be a hit with her highly spirited followers.
The cherry on top of the show was simply the lightness of being – consistent with the designer’s mantra “BE LIGHT” that allowed us the rare glimpse of seeing the models all smiles on the runway for the finale.
